My First 5K

yeah I finished my first 5k in 38min and 30 seconds.  now I have a time to beat for next race!!! It was fun and at that pace I was able to talk and enjoy the scenery.  at the end I sprinted and caught the person ahead of me!!!  We ran in Elk Grove with my new shoes and my feet feel great!!!!  The rain at first made it cold and wet but at about a mile it began to clear up so it made it really a nice run.  Bagels with peanut butter after, a good stretch and we were off..

Running again

Well I ran on Friday morning and it was super foggy out side so I walked to the track and ran 2 miles around it.  Found out that I run a 12 min mile.  Hopefully I can get that down lower soon!!
I am so excited we are going to run tomorrow in the Elk Grove fun run which will be a 5K so a good start for me hopefully.  I got new running shoes!!! yeah and I found out that I am an under pronator so maybe that is why my hips and knees hurt after a long run.  tomorrow I am going to try them out!!!
I am watching ice skating now, It looks like so much fun I love I skating, What a skill those girls have!!!!
I will keep you posted on how I feel tomorrow after my first fun run!!

Walking

Well this weekend I did not hit my big run that I was supposed to.  I didn't feel great so D and I walked around McKinley park on sat then did an ab workout.  It was a great ab routine so my abs were sore on Sunday.  Again then Sunday H and I were going to run be ended up walking/jogging to Chevy's on the river which is about a mile away.  great walks and company this weekend but no hard core run.  Oh well.  Today I woke up and did the bike, then elliptical and lifted.  Then this afternoon when I got home from work I got a good workout clearing out a shed.  until tomorrow...........

Another Run Day 4

Well Today was not the best but I knew I had to run to keep it going.  I was stuck in a meeting until 5 so I didn't even get out of the house until close to 5:15 to go run and the sun had already gone down so my time was limited.  I ran a 3 mile loop however I only ran the first two miles because my knees started hurting, not sure why.  I think I need to start doing one legged squats again to strengthen them.  Tomorrow I have another morning work out so I hope it goes well.

Day 3

Well today got up again at 5:15am and worked out on the elliptical and today was legs so I did calf raised, quads and hamstrings and abs.  Still sore and tired but feeling a little better from yesterday.

Day 2

Well today I really wanted to go back to bed and felt like I should have all day.  However I got up @ 5:15am and did a 30 minute cardio on the elliptical and lifted some weights, not much just lat pull downs and chest press.  I also did some abs. 
I was sore today because of the run yesterday.  You really don't realize how much you use your abdominal muscles while running.  Well another early morning tomorrow.  good luck with your workouts!!

Getting Started

Well I finally got started running again.  I decided that I have to start somewhere and began today.  Planned on running this morning but you know how days off go so I finally ran at 2pm around Natomas.  I wore my old running shoes, yoga pants, and a long sleeve dry fit from coaching soccer in North Dakota.  I ran for 30 minutes, not sure how many miles I ran though.  I started out strong at a decent pace but I defiantly slowed down after about 10 minutes.  I ran on an awesome bike trail here in the Sacramento area which is so nice and will be a great rollerblading trail on my cross training days :).  However after about 10 minutes I ended up on a dirt trail in this park next to the river.  I continued on that trail in a loop through the coolest large trees, wish I brought by camera!! 
I also saw a family riding their bikes and the little boy was so funny he fell then got back on and I asked him if he was having fun and he said “NO” with a rotten face on, Lol.   Then I saw the cutest dog which I think was a boxer/pit mix pushing around a toy dump truck around the park (so cute).
  Well as the run went on I got slower and kind of tired then my headach started to come on around 25 minutes so I finished out with the headache and hope that it was caused by the cold or something other than running.  Who knows but it felt good to get back running.  Tomorrow I am going to sign us up for the fun run in Elk Grove in two weeks.  Hope I can finish 3 miles in 30 minutes by then but who knows how far I went today the trail did not have mile markers.  Next time I will know!!!
